The complex
A building shaped like a wave
The Aquatic Palace stands in the Sabail district of Baku, next to the seaside boulevard, and covers 72,000 square metres. The foundation was laid on 19 April 2013 and the complex opened on 20 April 2015. The project architect was Rafael Askerov.
The building fully meets the requirements of the international federation and is the main training and competition centre for aquatic sports in Azerbaijan.
The pools
Three pools under one roof
The complex houses three pools. The main competition pool measures 50 × 25 metres and is 2.5 metres deep. The diving pool is 25 × 20 metres with a five-level tower — 1, 3, 5, 7.5 and 10 metres.
There are also fitness rooms, conference halls, restaurants and parking for 500 cars. The stands seat 6,000 spectators.

Events
From the European Games to the World Cup
In June 2015 the Palace hosted the swimming, diving and synchronised swimming events of the first European Games. In 2017 it staged the aquatic programme of the Islamic Solidarity Games.
In October 2026 the Palace will host the Baku leg of the Silk Road Swimming World Cup. It also hosts the federation's mass events — water polo festivals and children's tournaments.
